Christmas Decor for a Small Apartment

Living in a small apartment doesn't offer many options for elaborate holiday decor. With a little ingenuity, however, I've created a lovely holiday-themed apartment. A miniature lighted Christmas tree carefully placed on my side table greets visitors as they enter my home. Making good use of my front room window, I have adorned it with decor, using tinsel and garland, as well as miniature stockings hung with suction cups. As a festive alternative, you might try hanging shiny ornaments on the window in much the same way. If your apartment is designed with a staircase, decorate the banister. Use garland, tinsel, holly or even holiday greeting cards. Finally, if your apartment is furnished with a fireplace, decorate the mantel. I've placed a two-foot tall animated and musical Santa on my mantel. I hope my blog gives you some fun decorating ideas for your small home.

5 Gutter Guard Advantages To Know About

by Luke Patterson

Rain gutters catch the rainwater as it falls from the roof and carry it to downspouts at the corners of a structure, where the water is then deposited where it will be properly drained away from the home or building. When the gutters have debris in them, they won't function how they should, and this can cause problems. Gutter guards are attached to the gutters and prevent debris from falling into them. You can learn about some advantages of having these guards installed on your own gutters. Here are five advantages of having gutter guards put on your own gutters:

1: You won't have to clean the gutters regularly

Some people clean their own gutters, while others pay someone to come out and clean them. No matter what way you usually go, know that the gutters won't need to be cleaned nearly as often once the guards are put in place.

2: Your gutters should have fewer problems

Since the gutter guards will stop things from falling into the gutters, they can also end up having fewer problems over the years when they have gutter guards. When debris doesn't go into the gutters, there won't be blockages that cause heavy amounts of rainwater to accumulate in them, which would add stress to them. This is one example of why gutter guards can help prevent repair issues and even extend their lifespan.

3: Gutter guards will help save you money

If you usually pay someone to come to clean out the gutters, then no longer having to do so means you will be saving money there. Plus, the fact the gutters will need fewer repairs means fewer repair bills. Also, you will save when you don't have to prematurely replace the gutters.

4: Prevent water damage to the home

If there is a blockage in the rain gutters, then this can cause problems where rainwater can come into the home. When this happens, it can cause water damage to the parts of the home that are exposed to the water. Since the guards prevent blockages, they also end up preventing the water damage they can lead to.

5: Prevent the spreading of fire

A major benefit of gutter guards is the fact they can help to decrease the chances of a fire spreading. If dried debris, like leaves and twigs, are in the gutters, then a hot ember from a nearby fire can cause the gutter to ignite and a fire to spread.
